Their commitment to flexibility has paid off: a remarkable share of sessions happen after 5 pm, demonstrating just how powerful on-demand, peer-led support can be.
The Reach Award: Hillsborough Community College Nursing
The Reach Award honors a program that doesn’t just expand access—it changes student behavior.
Hillsborough Community College’s Nursing program has done just that. With a deep understanding of student needs and a relentless commitment to support, HCC Nursing has successfully reached students who had never engaged with tutoring before. The result? A remarkable percentage of Knack users at HCC Nursing are first-time tutoring participants.
Behind this achievement is a thoughtful, student-first strategy led by their Knack Program Administrator (KPA), Elsie Valentin Medina. From consistent outreach to creating a welcoming culture around asking for help, the program exemplifies what it means to meet students where they are.
